Uganda Honeycomb Coal Making Line Officially Completed
One of our Ugandan clients recently successfully installed a honeycomb coal making line, transforming waste timber from houses into high-value coal. They recently shared photos of the construction site, expressing their delight at the successful collaboration with Shuliy.
This project not only addresses the issue of waste timber disposal but also creates new income streams for the local community and solves employment problems for local workers. This validates that converting waste timber into briquettes is a viable investment direction.

Why convert waste construction timber into coal?
In many parts of Uganda, old houses and timber-framed buildings are demolished because they are no longer suitable for habitation and to make way for more development space. The remaining timber is often simply burned or discarded to rot.
Some may process it slightly for firewood, but this doesn’t grasp the true value of waste timber. How to upgrade and process it to increase profits and make it commercially viable is a core question our clients seek our solutions to when they consult us.

Shuliy solution: Wood crushing production line + honeycomb coal making line
To meet this demand, we designed a complete solution including wood crushing, carbonization, grinding, and molding:
- The first stage involves processing waste wood into fine raw materials. A wood shredder is needed to break large pieces of wood into smaller pieces to improve subsequent carbonization efficiency.
- The crushed material is sent to a carbonization furnace for carbonization. The final product is pure carbon blocks. The carbon blocks need to be ground into carbon powder by a roller mill and then sent to the molding system.
- After entering the honeycomb briquette production system, honeycomb briquettes or other briquettes of uniform size are produced according to the mold shape.
- Due to limited funds, we did not install a dryer or drying room. Furthermore, Uganda’s climate is not very humid, so natural air drying is possible.

The value of investing in the honeycomb coal making line for Uganda
This project of honeycomb coal making line brings several significant benefits to Uganda’s local economy and environment:
- Reducing deforestation pressure: The system supports sustainable fuel production by recycling timber from demolished buildings instead of felling new trees.
- Local job creation: From raw material collection to briquette packaging and sales, the production line creates jobs in both urban and rural areas.
- Turning waste into treasure: Old construction timber, once considered waste, is now a marketable energy product available to households, restaurants, and small businesses.
- Strong market demand: With Uganda’s growing urban population, the demand for affordable fuel continues to rise, making briquettes a popular choice.

On-site installation and customer feedback
With the assistance of our technical staff, the whole honeycomb coal making line was successfully installed. The customer sent us photos as feedback and expressed his satisfaction.
“The installation went smoothly, and the finished product is amazing. You are a trustworthy partner. Thank you for your technical support!“
In subsequent communications, our customer reported that the local market response to the product exceeded expectations, and it has won over several market partners. We are delighted with this.
